Volunteering and Covid
All activities are subject to government regulations regarding the covid pandemic. On board ‘De Holland’ the COA-rules apply.
Volunteer work
All activities are organized on board the ship in cooperation between Facet and COA. We also want to offer activities on shore, in the context of getting to know the environment (e.g. walking in and around Ridderkerk).
Exact plans for this still need to be worked out. However, if you are available and want to help, please register via our contact form. Then we will discuss with you which activity requires manpower at that moment and we will keep you informed of the progress.
Meat & greet
We hear from other organizations that if status holders, that have lived in the Netherlands for some time, invite the asylum seekers onboard, at their homes that proves to be a great success. Being able to have a conversation in your own language in the safe and comfortable environment of the residence of the status holder is invaluable.
The ‘Meat’ stands for the possibility of inviting the asylum seeker for a meal. However just drinking coffee is fine too.
We would like to adopt that idea and ask status holders in Ridderkerk to register with us. We will then together look for a match among their fellow-countrymen onboard.
Organize activities
The Werkgroep Vluchtelingen provides the people onboard with a Christmas gift around Christmas. Could this inspire you to launch similar actions? Inform us and we will discuss with you how we can achieve this.
Invite for existing activities
The Werkgroep Vluchtelingen organizes a weekly sports hour for status holders. A compatible activity will also be offered to the men onboard. Do you know or do you organize similar activities? Inform us and we will discuss with you how your plan can be implemented.
